California State University, Long Beach에서 조각을 전공해 BFA와 MFA를 취득했으며, 대학원 졸업 당시 Distinguished Achievement in Creative Activity Award를 수상했습니다. Nina Jun is a Korean-born sculptor and installation artist who moved to the United States in her early twenties and is now based in California. She earned her BFA and MFA in Sculpture from California State University, Long Beach, receiving the Distinguished Achievement in Creative Activity Award upon completing her graduate studies. Her practice spans sculpture, bronze casting, ceramics, video, and installation. She is particularly known for her *Ceramic Balloon* series, which captures the lightness and buoyancy of helium balloons through the weight and solidity of ceramics, establishing a distinctive artistic language. Jun has presented solo and group exhibitions at American galleries, including Skidmore Contemporary Art, and has participated in international art fairs in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Seoul. Nina Jun transforms Mylar balloons—symbols of joy and happiness—into ceramic sculptures, turning an ephemeral material into art that can be cherished forever. One day, she noticed a helium-filled balloon floating silently and motionlessly in the middle of a room. She discovered a sense of serenity in the equilibrium between gravity and buoyancy, recalling the beauty of a butterfly hovering above a flower, its wings gently beating.
